People who want to fish but do not want to be on a boat, or wade in a lake or river, should consider pier fishing. Broward County offers many pier fishing opportunities. One popular spot is the Dania Beach Fishing Pier. Extending 900 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, it has restrooms, benches, fish cleaning tables, and a modest shaded area near the end. There are also an onsite bait and tackle shop and refreshments. Depending on the season, species caught include Snook, Croakers, Bluefish, Mutton Snapper, and Spanish Mackerel.
Another popular destination is the Deerfield Beach Fishing Pier, which is 957 feet in length. Available at the pier are rod and reel rentals and a bait shop. Species caught off the pier include King Mackerel, Bluefish, Pompano, Kingfish, and Snapper. Both piers hold Florida fishing licenses, which permit people without fishing licenses to fish, a major convenience for tourists visiting the area.
